Rehiyon-Rehiyon  By Pauline Dela Paz

It is celebrated every year, December 8 of the year as a tribute to the residents of Marikina especially to those who are not the natives of city. The festival shows the different attitudes of the different residents of the locals. Marikina was trying to unite them in one big event where in there’s a dance competition for each of the schools to participate in. that is composed of different private and public schools or organization of the said city.

When we were required to watch this amazing festival during my second year in high school, I was shocked by the simple, cheap but colorful and beautiful costumes of the representatives with their own beauties inside and out. They even put paints I’m not sure if it’s textile or poster paint in their bodies to catch the attention of the audience by their colors.

Because of this festival, more and more people especially the Marikeños get involved with uplifting the Marikina River. For the reason that the knowledge being taught to the citizens is to protect the river since it is an important aspect of the earth, they will surely be proud of themselves if they accomplish cleaning and transforming Marikina River back to a fresh river once again.
